Charity Programs - Let's Warm-up America & Hat's for the Homeless

Hats for the Homeless

For our Charity programs, we accept knitted and crocheted hats, scarves and other handmade items year-round and give them out from November thru March helping others less fortunate to stay warm.

Knitting and crocheting for charity does more than give the person donating warm fuzzies, it shows someone that you care.  Put your left-over yarn to good use.  All those little balls can make a difference this winter.

All items can be left in the donation box at the front of the shop.

If you are an organization that can help distribute these items, please let us know.

Craftsy has over 400 free hat patterns.

All Free Knitting offers 20 hat patterns and Crochet hat patterns can be found here

The Great Yarn Give-away

I love Yarn Day

Once a year in conjunction with "I Love Yarn Day", the second Saturday in October, the Yarn Cloud gives back to the community.

We collect yarns, needles and notions that have been de-stashed by our fiber friends, organize it, and provide a time and place to give it all back to the community at no charge.

You donate a hat for the homeless and then have the opportunity to select yarn from our bins of donated yarns, needles and notions.

Any donations not selected during this weekend, is provided to the local senior centers and elementary schools.

Know of an organization that could use yarn, needles and/or notions, let us know at

Thanks for participating in our charity programs!
